The original Scottish Government Town Centre Toolkit (2015) contains lots of information and examples about how streets and spaces can be designed to make them more attractive for walking and cycling.
Living Streets promotes walking as a mode of transport; their website contains information, advice and examples.
CoMoUK (Co-Mobility UK) supports the UK’s transition to integrated mobility solutions, including car clubs, ride sharing and bike sharing, plus emerging modes including mobility hubs, on-demand buses and scooter sharing.

Architecture and Design Scotland has a webpage full of interesting information about Designing for a Changing Climate and Design for a Changing Climate: Carbon conscious places.
Greenspace Scotland provides lots of information and support about making more of urban greenspace, including for example their Your Community Greenspace guidance.
Green Action Trustis an environmental delivery body which works in partnership with Scotland’s Towns Partnership. Their work is focussed on delivering environmental and regeneration outcomes for Scotland. They provide support on policy, programme and project development, delivery and evaluation. MyParkScotland is an initiative, run by Greenspace Scotland and others, to help people discover and support their local parks. It includes news and information on parks around the country, how to get involved in your local park, an events diary, news about parks and crowdfunding.
Nature Scotprovides a host of information on placemaking and green infrastructure, including master planning approaches and community resources. Find out more about their role in placemaking in this video.
Play Scotland focuses on the delivery of children and young people’s right to play in Scotland. The website includes a range of useful resources, including Power of Play, Play Sufficiency Assessments and Inclusive Play Design.
Net Zero
The Place Standard with a Climate Lens has been developed to help people understand how climate change might play out in a local area and support them to design their future place with climate in mind.
Zero Waste Scotland provides comprehensive support for all kinds of organisations through funding streams, materials, training, support and a group of websites. This webpage explaining what they offer community groups is a good place to start. Their Circular Economy Accelerator webpages focus on refurbishing, remanufacturing, reusing and recycling to reduce waste and emissions, with lots of information and links to funding and resources.
Energy Efficiency Business Supportfrom Business Energy Scotlandprovides free and impartial support and access to funding to help businesses save energy, money and carbon. Organisations can receive a free energy audit, plus an unsecured, interest-free loan is available to help your business make energy efficiency upgrades.’
Local Energy Scotland manage CARES, the Scottish Government’s Community and Renewable Energy Scheme. They give communities, businesses and other organisations advice and funding in all aspects of local, renewable energy, including toolkits & technical resources and case studies.
Adaptation Scotland supports climate challenge resilience by helping people, organisations and places adapt to climate change. Their How to Adapt website pages include links to a whole range of other organisations, toolkits and resources.
The Energy Saving Trust offers advice and loans for communities, as well as businesses and individuals. This includes access to funding for anything from district heating to e-bikes.
Green Champions Training by Business Energy Scotland is a free CPD Certified online training course for Scottish organisations. The course has been designed to give you new skills and tools so that you can successfully improve the resource efficiency and environmental performance of your organisation – and, of course, save money too.
